More and more women are getting into the property market and they aren't relying on a man to help them.

In less than a year, single mum Judith Taylor is well on her way to becoming a property tycoon. Judith has bought four properties in the last 11 months. "I now have a portfolio that's worth about $1.2 million. I built about $100,000 equity in this place so I'm ready to draw back on that and start again," she says.

After working for 35 years, Pat Fleming lost almost everything when a personal crisis struck. So at 50, she set about re-building by buying and renovating. Pat now has six properties worth about $1.5 million and after three years, Pat is now on her way to comfortably retiring. While she does some of the renovating herself, Pat mostly hires others — men, it seems, are good for something.

Geoff Doidge and Paul Eslick from the Reno Kings made a fortune buying and renovating property, and now they run courses on how to do it. More than half of those lining up to learn are women.

"Look, they've got a triple A rating in property. They are assertive — don't stand in their way guys, they'll bowl you over. And they're articulate — they can walk the walk and talk the talk to get those great deals," Paul says.

Geoff agrees, "Yeah, they're ambitious, they know what they want and they know how to get it."
