Cross Roads: Moreton
By Paul Eslick

Nothing is better than being in the “cross roads of life” where you have plenty of time to do what you want and streams of income to supplement that time. Income from our rents gives us this passive income where we can choose to do what we like when we like. This has not happened over night but over a period of time, investing in property is a get rich slow scheme. Imagine if you had the choice of either going to work today or going to the beach with the kids or just go on one of Geoff’s long Friday breakfasts.
With our freedom every alternate year we either swap house’s overseas for a few months [surprising how cost effective overseas travel is when you pencil in free accommodation] or travel outback Australia. This year was the outback and where you meet Moreton our baby Joey. We found him in his dead mother’s pouch, poor mum had been hit by a car and as we drove past all I could see were these two big brown eyes looking at me. We are way out the back... 750km’s from Cairns, 293km’s from Cape York and 130km’s from Weipa, just outside Old Moreton Telegraph Station, now you know how the little bloke got his name.
I have just flown back over the area this morning from my office via Google earth what a fantastic tool this is and free to boot. Talking of Google Earth, anyone contemplating purchasing real estate should use this application (or www.nearmap.com as an alternative) to check out the surrounding area from a bird’s eye view - you may be surprised on what you discover, both good and disastrous.
What happened to Moreton you ask, well that’s another blog. My thoughts at the time were.... where’s Bindi when you want her!
